Blue Horizons

After five home moves, upgrading each time, the McBeath family have finally put down roots, having recently completed their “forever home”.

Coincidentally, both Geoff and Melissa discovered the property at the same time, but by chance. An electrician by trade, Geoff was working next door to the location and after standing on that home’s front verandah, he appreciated the ocean views and aspect.

Meanwhile, at home Melissa was looking at that same old cottage listed for sale on the internet. It was as if meant to be.

Geoff said, “I imagined that if the house next door was moved forward it too would have those same views, while Melissa wanted to move back to her childhood stomping ground at Redhead to give our son and daughter the same carefree lifestyle she enjoyed.”

So having recently finished a major renovation to their current Charlestown home, they listed the property for sale and purchased the Redhead home within walking distance to the ocean beach and the children’s grandparents.

The couple commissioned Luke Mahaffey of LJM Architecture, who had designed their Charlestown home, to design a simple, functional and relaxed living arrangement filled with natural light and ventilation.
