Free Reign for Landscape Designers

Each year, in late March, the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is held in, and around, the elegant, heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building in the glorious Carlton Gardens, Victoria.

Whilst there are many retailers vying for your attention and showcasing their wares, including new plant releases, the mainstay, and perhaps most renowned element of the show, is the competitions.

As the name suggests these competitions are centred on Floristry and Gardens. The floristry design is impressive and well worth the look. But I was there to see the show gardens and to bear witness to new feats of creativity and ingenuity.

The organisers invite Landscape Designers from around Australia to submit designs in a competition format. This year there were three different, parallel garden design competitions – covering different types of gardens.
