Luxurious is almost an understatement for this rainforest valley home. There are endless visual delights to tickle the senses, such as the swimming pool looking like a tranquil river bed – a view which is enjoyed from all the living rooms.
Bringing the external elements of light and water into the home was essential for the owners, builder and architect of this multi-award winning modern renovation which is a series of flowing rooms; literally a ghost of the old house – yet a virtual piece of art.
The tree-studded block facing a valley nature reserve was certainly a premium beginning and the home was designed and built to embrace the landscape. Innovation and vision in design and technology were also necessities and the home is cutting-edge modern, yet totally functional and liveable.
Six or so years ago, the owners Tod and Maree were inner-city dwellers revelling with life right in the heart of inner Newcastle at Cooks Hill; until they spotted a unique property offering open space in the highly sought suburb of Merewether Heights.
Sitting on a one-acre block in a peaceful and private rainforest setting was a typical three-bedroom dwelling reminiscent of the late 70s.
