Hunter Fashion on Show

More than 150 Hunter TAFE Fashion Design students lit up the catwalk as they paraded at the NEWGEN fashion show at Newcastle City Hall on 25th November.

The NEWGEN fashion show features the annual graduating exhibition of Hunter TAFE Fashion Design students now in the seventh year.

Designs were showcased across a range of collections produced by budding fashion designers throughout the year including Distressed Denim, Graceful, Stage One Designs, Upcycled Shirts, Moroccan Swimwear, Studio Design, Wearable Art, and Hunter TAFE student label – Notched.

The event provides a platform for students to showcase their designs and be involved in the planning and preparation of a fashion show production, providing an amazing opportunity for exposure to the Australian fashion industry.

A major highlight of the event was the second collection of the student label, ‘Notched’. The newest collection entitled “Blame it on my Gypsy Soul” is a collection of Boho-inspired kimonos that were produced as part of an international study tour to Bali, Indonesia, where students studied international manufacturing processes and practices used by many Australian and global fashion labels…
