Actress Jessica Redmayne to MC for Hunter Memory Walk & Jog

Star of Channel Seven drama 800 Words and former Hi-5 member Jessica Redmayne is gearing up to host the 2019 Hunter Memory Walk & Jog.

Jessica will be swapping her joggers for the mic when she steps up for her inaugural turn as Master of Ceremonies at the event on Sunday 31 March at Speers Point Park.

Jessica said her enthusiasm for supporting the event comes from having a first-hand understanding of the impact a diagnosis of dementia can have on a family.

“I am honoured to be a part of supporting the Hunter Memory Walk & Jog, and helping to raise funds and more importantly awareness around dementia and the great work of Dementia Australia within the region,” Ms Redmayne said.

Memory Walk & Jog raises much-needed funds to support the work of Dementia Australia, which provides invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends.

Last year more than 1,000 people took part from across the Hunter Valley. This year, participants can choose to take part in a 2km or 7.5km walk, jog or run and are invited to help us reach the $110,000fundraising target. All funds raised will benefit Dementia Australia services in the Hunter

Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe said the course is family-friendly, and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. “We’re excited to be returning to the Hunter Valley in 2019 and to be working with Australians to get active and beat dementia, whilst raising much-needed funds and awareness,” Ms McCabe said. There will be prizes for the top fundraisers, as well as raffles, plenty of entertainment for the whole family, food stalls, and a special guest appearance from Memory Walk & Jog mascot, Al the Elephant. The first 500 people to register for the Hunter event will receive a free t-shirt, and the first 1,000 people to register across all events will get a free pedometer.
