Christ Church Camerata: 10th anniversary season

26/05/2019, 18/08/2019, 1/12/2019
In its 10th anniversary season, Camerata will present another three concerts in Newcastle’s Christ Church Cathedral.

Founded in 2009, the Camerata String Quartet has performed live on ABC Classic FM and at the Adelaide Town Hall. The Camerata’s CD recording Serenade for Strings has been broadcast frequently on ABC Classic FM.  The Camerata has commissioned and performed new works by local composers and developed a cadet program for Newcastle’s best string students.  The 2015 Newcastle String Festival organised by Christ Church Camerata and Newcastle Strings was the nucleus for what is now the hugely successful Newcastle Music Festival, and in 2019 (in conjunction with Christ Church Cathedral Choir), the Camerata is providing education opportunities through the Newcastle Cathedral College of Music.

Commencing with a concert of Bach, Vivaldi and Mendelssohn in April 2009, the Camerata has now presented 40 concerts at the Cathedral plus orchestral and chamber music concerts at the Newcastle Art Gallery, in Sydney, at Singleton’s Sacred Spaces, and on a barge in the Hunter River as part of Newcastle’s Australia Day celebrations.
