Lake Macquarie Open Gardens

12 and 13 October: celebrate spring and living by the lake

The members of Lake Macquarie Garden Club are not just passionate about their gardens, they also have a penchant for the arts. Thus they have invited talented artists, painters, sculptors, potters, felt workers and calligraphers to exhibit in the gardens at this year’s event.

Ten gardens will be open for visitors: some of them big and bold, others small and intricate. Some were professionally designed, others are the result of hard yakka and dedication by the owners. The artists exhibiting in the gardens are as varied as the gardens. This year’s open gardens are located on the western side of Lake Macquarie: from Eraring and Wangi Wangi to Coal Point and around the lake to the northern side of Toronto.

Whether you prefer to cycle the route, walk along the waterfront or hop on a bus, you are in for a wonderful day with unique gardens to admire. There are even two bonus gardens to enjoy. The rejuvenated plantings and vegetable garden at Coal Point Public School, and a swimming pool that was no longer wanted and turned into a creative pond environment for frogs and fish to enjoy. All funds raised will be donated to the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
