The German Masters of Fate: Concert by Symphony Central Coast

Symphony Central Coast, the largest regional community orchestra in New South Wales, are presenting a series of master pieces from German composers at their next concert on 22 September at the Performing Arts Centre at Central Coast Grammar School.

The program includes:

Schumann: Julius Caesar Overture
Beethoven: Symphony no. 5
Brahms: Double Concerto; soloists Karina Moss-Hollands (Violin) and Caroline Otto (Cello)

Karina and Caroline have taught and performed together for several years. They are finally realising their dream of performing Brahms Concerto for Violin and Cello with Symphony Central Coast.

Karina Moss-Hollands (concertmaster) completed her Master’s Degree in violin performance and pedagogy at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Karina is Head of Strings at the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music, and is concertmaster and artistic director of Concertante Ensemble which she co-founded in 1994. She is also concertmaster of Symphony Central Coast, Lyric Opera Orchestra and Central Coast Opera. Karina does regular solos with Concertante Ensemble and guest soloists such as Erin Helyard, Neal Peres Da Costa and Bridget Bolliger.

Caroline Otto completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2006, studying with Susan Blake. She then studied with Professor Mezo Laszlo in Budapest before moving to the UK to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma in Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music.

During her studies, Caroline was involved in many youth orchestra programs such as Australian Youth Orchestra, SSO Sinfonia and she was principal cellist with The Netherlands Youth Orchestra.

Back in Australia she is associate principal cellist with the Metropolitan Orchestra and a founding member of the Sydney Cello Quartet. Although from Sydney, the Central Coast holds a special place in her heart, and she taught at the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music for 4 years and performs regularly with Concertante Ensemble.
