King of the Ranges Stockman’s Challenge and Bush Festival

The King of the Ranges Stockman’s Challenge and Bush Festival is held annually in Murrurundi during the last week in February. Stockmen and women from around the country come to compete over three days in seven preliminary events consisting of Horse and Rider Gear, Whipcrack, Pack Saddle, Stock Handling, Shoeing, Bareback and Cross Country. The best from each class then compete in finals events on the Sunday. As well as the challenge events, which are held at the Rosedale Complex, Murrurundi, there is also a Bush Festival with bush poetry, music, the famous Goat Race, market stalls, billy boiling, bush dinner and more. Offering a full program of festival events and entertainment, the King of the Ranges Stockman’s Challenge and Bush Festival has something for all the family.
