East Maitland: Fashion extravaganza raising funds for mental health

East Maitland Rotary’s recent fashion extravaganza evening raised an impressive total of $7,678.56. With October designated as Mental Health Month, the entire sum has been donated to the Australian Rotary charity Lift the Lid which supports mental health research in Australia.

Event organiser and Rotarian Nicole Crick brought together models, helpers and guests, who were encouraged to wear their best hat. East Maitland Rotary President Brian Morgan was one of several Rotarians strutting the runway at East Maitland Bowling Club along with models supplied by local fashion houses who also provided fashionable outfits for both men and women.

Pieces from the Junkyard Gypsies, Fleurs of Morpeth, Princess Bazaar, Johnny Big as well as some of Lifeline’s amazing sustainable fashion items were all on show. Master of Ceremonies Wayne Rogers added his own sense of style and fun to the evening, encouraging attendees to bid for some of the fabulous auction items donated to help support this worthy cause.

In addition to the impressive auction line-up, which included donated high fashion pieces, market stalls featured a local milliner, jewellery makers, and grooming retailers for a complete fashion experience from head to toe.
