Evolution not revolution: Drayton’s in new hands
Architect and property developer Michael Raad already held property in the area and snapped up the iconic winery and restaurant on Oakey Creek Road along with a share of its vineyards last year.
Ever since, and with John Drayton still involved in the business, he has been working on his strategy to continue the legacy of one of the Hunter’s iconic wine making families.
Celebrating Dayton’s 170th anniversary this year, he is keen to update and extend existing offerings at the cellar door and adjacent Café 1853 and to bring the historic wine cellar and winery to life as unique event spaces.
