Forever views

Rener and Christine had always wanted a holiday home with enough space for their wider family and friends. After one truly memorable night around a fire on the beach at Catherine Hill Bay, they knew they had found the perfect spot.

Rener and Christine had been holidaying in the Lake Mac area for years, fascinated by its natural beauty, but also its rich heritage. The proximity to their home in Sydney was an added bonus.

“Hamptons style is our favourite look, so we enjoy the ambience of Catherine Hill Bay,” explains Rener. “We chose this particular block for its spectacular views and for its three street frontages, with just one neighbour to the side.”

Recently finished, their substantial six-bedroom, four-bathroom holiday home has several living areas, a games room and an adjacent self-sustained cottage. A glistening pool boasts views of the crashing waves at Catherine Hill Bay across heritage listed bushland.

So those vistas are unlikely to change anytime soon. The couple’s building designer Melanie Symington from Seaside Homes inspired confidence from the get-go.

“We were just speaking the same language,” Rener muses. “We wanted a coastal Hamptons style home, open to the northeast to capture the views.”
Making the most of their 640 sqm block and maxing out the allowed height clearance were also important items on their wish list.

“The apartment was designed to work as part of the main house, but also to allow a degree of separation if that was preferred by the family or their guests.”

With an extensive background in hospitality and accommodation, the couple had a clear vision for their interior design and were very hands-on in finding just the right materials and finishes.
