Hamilton: Harrison’s
Head to Harrison’s Food & Wine on Tudor Street in Hamilton for an authentic taste of the Hunter Valley.
Local couple Tony Harrison and Melisah May have created a homely vibe, carefully curating every detail from Melisah’s paintings on the walls and floral dinnerware on the tables to the impeccable, personal service. Lunch specials on Harrison’s include steak frites of Jacks Creek wagyu tri tip rump or fried zucchini flowers filled with labna. The chicken liver pâté with toast and pickles is a must.
Tony confesses to being easily bored so his set dinner menu changes weekly. We were treated to grilled Uprising sourdough with hummus, Jerusalem artichoke velouté, pumpkin arancini, fusilli pasta, grain fed sirloin and apple and rhubarb crêpe with a chocolate mousse. Divine!
The Harrison’s wine list features some of the best young winemakers in the Valley, with the likes of Angus Vinden, M+J Becker or Usher Tinkler. Novocastrians rejoice, the Hunter Valley is now even closer to your doorstep.
Open for lunch Friday – Sunday from 12pm and for dinner Wednesday – Saturday 6pm to 10.30pm.
