Seamless Design

Where style meets function.

Story Laure de Vaugelas

At Morisset Park, this residence redefines the possibilities of an accessible home.

Designed by Tailored HQ, the house demonstrates how universal design can inspire innovation, creating spaces that are both beautiful and exceptionally functional. The kitchen exemplifies this philosophy: every detail, from the open, roll-under counters to carefully tailored cabinetry, supports independence, while elevating everyday living through considered aesthetics and technology. Subtle industrial touches, warm timber tones, and muted textural finishes give the space a sophisticated character, while integrated automation enhances convenience and usability. Here, accessibility is not a limitation but a driver of design innovation.

The kitchen layout is both practical and social. Open space beneath the cooktop and sinks allows full roll-under access, while the island bench doubles as a workspace and communal hub. Motorised benchtops in the main prep area and side sink adjust in height via wall switch or home automation system, ensuring every task can be completed comfortably. A hideaway oven door, pot filler, and shallower-than-standard sink further enhance usability, demonstrating how universal design principles can generate inventive solutions that are visually seamless. Bluetooth-enabled cooktop and rangehood integrate with the automation system, showing how technology can transform accessibility into effortless, elegant living.

“This kitchen is a testament to the power of universal design as a catalyst for creativity.”

Aesthetically, the kitchen balances industrial refinement with warmth and subtle Japanese influence. Timber-inspired joinery softens concrete-grey tones, while feature tiles and muted textures bring character without clutter. The restrained palette ensures functional elements, often overlooked in traditional accessible kitchens, feel integrated and intentional. Cabinetry heights are precisely tailored, proving that ergonomics and innovation can coexist with sophisticated design.

This kitchen is a testament to the power of universal design as a catalyst for creativity.

Every element, from automated surfaces to the tactile interplay of materials, was considered through the lens of usability, independence, and aesthetics. The result is a space that is practical, aspirational, and effortlessly stylish: a kitchen where innovation meets elegance, and accessibility becomes a design opportunity rather than a constraint.

Recognised at the HIA-CSR Hunter Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, the residence shows that design driven by accessibility can lead to environments that are inspiring, empowering, and exquisitely refined.
