Newcastle: Nagisa
Nagisa is a modern take on Japanese food features creative delicacies from super fresh sashimi and sushi plates to moreish gyoza dumplings. Scrumptious meat dishes not to miss include the mouth-watering slow cooked beef short rib in a hatcho miso black sugar glaze and the wagyu beef Tataki served ever so thinly sliced, lightly seared and topped with daikon, pickled chilli, chives, sansho peppercorns and ponzu dressing. Vegetarians will enjoy dishes like the fried tofu with sauteed Japanese mushrooms, butter, garlic and teriyaki sauce.
The excellent, creatively plated food at Nagisa is served up with harbour views and one of the best drinks menus in Newcastle. The drinks menu earned itself ‘Two Glasses’ in the coveted Gourmet Traveller Awards for its fine selection of rare Japanese craft beers, whisky, sake and Hunter Valley wines.
