Local winemaker Angus Vinden, from Vinden Wines shares a few of his favourites. 2022 Shiraz Nouveau Producer: Vinden Wines Origin: Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, NSW Varietal: Red Style: A Beaujolais style of shiraz. Early picked, wild-fermented, aged in concrete/old oak. Organic, light, fun and ‘sessionable’. 2021 Ablington Vineyard Chardonnay Producer: M&J Becker Origin: Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, NSW Varietal: White Style: A beautiful, modern expression of a Hunter chardy. Organic, wild-fermented in neutral puncheons, refined and complex. 2021 BREAKING GROUND BARBERA Producer: Margan Wines Origin: Broke, Hunter Valley, NSW Varietal: Red Style: A lighter-framed example that’s bright and crunchy with lively acidity.
