NELSON BAY – The Little Nel
The Little Nel is perched on the rise above Nelson Bay but doesn’t let its position speak for the food – it’s worth a visit for the menu alone. At The Little Nel, start the day with smashed avocado on soy and linseed sourdough with goat’s feta and heirloom tomatoes; try a tropical passionfruit and mango acai bowl, spice up your day with sambal chilli scrambled eggs with coconut yoghurt or indulge with a plate of crepes. A selection of smoothies (think Snickers or Green Boost), freshly squeezed juices, old-fashioned milkshakes or top coffee with beans from Pablo and Rusty will quench your thirst.
Visit for lunch and expect bold combinations, with a focus on letting the flavours of the produce shine through. Waterside classics are done with flair: a wagyu burger with tomato bacon jam; tiger prawn tacos and crunchy slaw; crispy skin barramundi; plus modern dishes like a seafood panzanella salad or a chilli caramel pork belly salad with green papaya make you want to revisit to try them all.
