The Making of Living Legends
Cathy Gadd is tracing the life stories of the four most recent inductees in the Hunter’s hall of wine and tourism fame, their passion for the Valley, its wines, its heritage and future success.
The Hunter Valley is renowned for its picturesque landscapes and rich history of producing world-class wines. It also boasts an abundant tapestry of people – from colourful personalities to the quiet achievers contributing to the region’s reputation and success.
The annual Hunter Valley Legends Awards seek to recognise the dedication, innovation, and the tireless efforts of those who have shaped the Hunter Valley.
With just 33 Living Legends, the award shines the light on the region’s heroes, the luminaries that contribute to its cultural heritage, economic growth, and global recognition as a premier destination whilst also inspiring continuous improvement. This year, John Davis, Graham Doran and Dr Harry Tulloch were inducted as Wine Industry Living Legends for their pioneering approach to viticulture, and John Stevens as a Living Legend for tourism.
What drives these individuals and why have they been recognised by such a prestigious award?
Our congratulations…
The Hunter Valley Living Legends Awards encapsulate a harmonious blend of tradition, innovation, passion and expertise, inspiring those hoping to join the wine and tourism industry. Whilst these Living Legends were equally humble and grateful, there is a true sense of gravitas about their remarkable achievements and contributions to the Hunter Valley and they are richly deserving of their honour.
