The Creation of Forever Bay Views
Pindimar, is a quiet waterfront hamlet on the shores of Port Stephens just 15 mins from Tea Gardens with panoramic views across to Soldiers Point and Nelson Bay By car Pindimar is accessed from the Pacific Highway just 70 kilometres north of Newcastle turning off the Pacific Highway at the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest exit. It is one of the district’s many best kept secrets.
Mark Lawler of Mark Lawler Architects was involved in the renovation and a first floor addition to an existing getaway holiday house located right on the waterfront at Pindimar.
The owners having established a good working relationship with Mark on a number of previous projects knew he would have the solution to tackle the problems associated with reconfiguring the existing home with the planned extensions. Like many houses built without the involvement of an Architect, the existing house failed to address some fundamental issues of its attractive, waterfront site.
“Studying the plans of the existing house it is hard to fathom the thinking which led to its construction. This project included updates to areas that were tired and dated, but more importantly addressed the fundamental shortcomings and reconfigured the interior spaces to take far better advantage of the water views and the large, private garden on this side of the house,” said Mark Lawler.
“While the existing house provided a reasonable standard of accommodation, it was in no danger of winning any design awards.”
