Lakeside Splendour

The architects John Streeter, of Director EJE Architecture and Brock Hall, an associate of EJE Architecture, Newcastle were given a design brief to create a lifestyle residence on Lake Macquarie to suit the owners’ criteria of a comfortable, relaxed family home.

A & K MacKay Building Co. based in Beresfield, won the tender to build the home and in doing so their high standard of workmanship won them one of the top awards at the recent 2017 MBA Awards, being named the winner of the Custom Built Home in the $800,000 – $1.5m. The owner, Jamie Lovett, had for years had an eye on this property due to its idyllic situation at the end of a cul-desac on an elevated site overlooking deep-water moorings on Swan Bay at Marks Point. The original design brief of this executive lakeside residence was a home which maximised the views to the south and also captures the northern aspect for a large family of six. The couple lived in the original home on site for 18 months while planning the new build of their home. “During this time we realised how much of the light and warmth came from the north,” said Kellie, “so we now appreciate both the sunny aspect and views throughout the entire living space downstairs.”
