Palm Springs Style

The brief to his team in designing this home even suggested that they watch the iconic Peter Sellers’ movie and they did just that! This newly built 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home at The Vintage, Rothbury offers contemporary style with more than a dash of the 1950s Palm Springs flair. Hence the name for Yarrum Designer Homes latest display home; the ‘Palm Springs’.

Mid century or Desert Modernism evoked a lifestyle of simple elegance and informality with an emphasis on indooroutdoor living. Today the style remains popular due to the interplay between sophisticated design and the stunning vista beyond. Likewise, the Palm Springs with its skillion roof, soft white exterior with accents using recycled timbers, soft taupes, bronze and stone seamlessly integrates the home into the surrounding environment.

This family residence has been created to meet the highest standards of modern family living. The home is made to feel breezy, light and open, without being cavernous; connected yet separate. The perfect set up for today’s family. Everything in the design is orientated to exploit its proximity to the golf course and the views of the Barrington Tops in the distance. There are big, obvious elements, such as the generous spans of glass, natural timber, terraces and decks but there are clever little details in the sustainable design principles such as windows angled to catch the morning sunshine, afternoon breezes and glimpses of the horizon.  On entering the home through a central courtyard, two large laser cut screens in a soft gold, form a transparent wall between the entrance and the living space, allowing both line of sight and light through. The heart of the home, is the open plan kitchen, nothing short of WOW The kitchen has a large island bench in Caesarstone Jet Black and room for plenty of people to congregate around sets the stage.
