A touch of Milan

Nancy Duggan had a vision and a decade later she has completed her dream. Her Italian heritage is evident in the lavish fixtures and fittings.

Nancy Duggan is living her dream and it’s a beauty. From her spacious balcony perched above Church St in the prestigious Hill area of inner-Newcastle, she enjoys stunning views of the harbour, city, and across to the white sands of Stockton and beyond. Nancy and her partner, prominent Newcastle businessman Bob Fernance, can finally sit back and enjoy their palatial, four-storey home, which has been more than 12 years in the planning. Since January 2016 the couple have been meticulously overseeing the building of their Tyrell Street home, which leading real estate agents now consider to be in the top echelons of properties in the Newcastle region and valued at more than $10 million. The normally private couple opened the doors of their opulent home to Hunter and Coastal Lifestyle Magazine at the urgings of locally-based building company Kingston, who rate it as one of the most prestigious builds they have been associated with. “This house is my dream and it is wonderful to sit back now and enjoy it,” says Nancy. “It was hard yakka at times and we are both pretty tired now. We were on site every day making sure everything was the way we wanted it and making changes as we went along. “In the end we are so happy with what we’ve achieved. It’s wonderful for me to see how much Bob enjoys it. He put a lot of faith in my interior design and was blown away by the end result. He’s a very hard-working man and I feel like creating this beautiful home is my reward to him.”
