Winter makeover for Lake Mac Swim Centres
Five Lake Mac Swim Centres will undergo a mini-makeover this winter with a variety of improvement works getting under way this week at Charlestown, Morisset, Speers Point, Swansea and West Wallsend.
Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, said with more than 306,101 visitations since June our swim centres are a valuable asset for Council.
“Our swim centres are a place for people to be social, connect with one another and to improve their health and fitness,” Cr Fraser said.
“We are carrying out these improvement works in response to feedback we’ve received from our customers in recent years asking for more shade, seating, barbecues and open grassed areas.
“By providing additional shade, seating and barbecue facilities, we hope to create a more family-friendly environment allowing visitors to continue to enjoy using our swim centres for years to come.”
The works are expected to be complete by spring 2019.
