With an abundance of rolling green hills and picturesque natural bushland surrounding one of Australia’s oldest wine-growing regions, Pokolbin offers a fertile location to create intimate accommodation experiences surrounded by nature.
Situated off Wine Country Drive in North Rothbury, the region’s newest tourist destination is slowly taking shape among the gum trees, under the watchful eyes of Sydney tree-changers Carolyn and Paul Shields. The couple and their family relocated to the tranquil 43-acre property in December 2016 with the dream of creating a private getaway on the fringe of the bustling Hunter Valley vineyard region. More than two years down the track their vision is close to becoming a reality in the form of Tuckers Lane Boutique Accommodation. Featuring five one or two-bedroom units luxuriously fashioned out of former shipping containers, the self-contained accommodation comes complete with their own decks, outdoor kitchens and barbecues. Perfect for those looking to get back to nature without having to forgo life’s little luxuries, visitors will be able to enjoy a spa under the stars or while away an afternoon in your private hammock listening the melodious sounds of the abundant bird life. Ideally located less than 10 minutes from major attractions including Bimbadgen Estate, Tuckers Lane Boutique Accommodation will be perfect for music lovers taking in one of the major vineyard concerts, or as the perfect base for a wine tasting getaway. The accommodation is due to open around September or October, but those keen to get a taste of the tranquil site even sooner can book a stay in the Shields’ luxurious 28-foot Hunter Valley Glamper Van, which is available for bookings via Airbnb most weekends.
