New play equipment coming to Rankin Park and Warners Bay

Two neighbourhood playgrounds will undergo a transformation in the coming months with works getting underway this week at Rankin Park and Warners Bay to install new play equipment. Community playgrounds at Butler Crescent, Warners Bay and Elbrook Reserve, Rankin Park will be demolished this week with new equipment installed over the coming months. Both playgrounds will cater for children aged between 2 and 12 years.

Council’s Asset Manager Helen Plummer said it’s an exciting time for the community and local residents to have brand new play equipment installed at their local playgrounds. “Managing parks and playgrounds is one of our core responsibilities,” Ms Plummer said. “We manage more than 480 parks and playgrounds across the City, contributing to the safe, active and healthy lifestyle our community has come to love and enjoy. The upgrade of these two playground facilities will provide newer spaces for families to play and connect socially.”

Butler Crescent’s play equipment will feature a play park system with slide, climbing rope, and cable way, a ball maze panel, chimes panel, two-bay swing and a bike rocker. Elbrook Reserve’s new playground will feature a play park system with dual-slides, climbing rope, and cable way, a 4×4 car rocker, two-bay swing, see saw and a X and O panel. Both playgrounds are expected to reopen in late September 2019.

Council is committed to providing recreational spaces for the community to enjoy and is forecast to spend $2.5 million on improving parks and playgrounds in 2019-2020 as part of its $98 million capital works program.
