21st anniversary art exhibition
Maitland Region Society of Artists is celebrating its 21st anniversary by holding a special exhibition of paintings and sculptures at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG). The exhibition opened on 17 August and runs for three months. It corresponds with the MRAG celebrating its 10th year since the opening of the current complex.
All artworks reflect an aspect of the Hunter Valley and are of high quality, having been specially selected for this exhibition. The creative title or statement of each entry will be combined with all other statements to form a poem, which will be displayed on the walls around the art. It will be the Society’s gift to Maitland. The Maitland Region Society of Artists was formed 21 years ago at a public meeting in the Maitland City Art Gallery (then Brough House) on 18 March 1998. Their first exhibition was held in December 1998 at the Maitland Hospital.
Maitland Region Society of Artists are an active community, holding two main exhibitions each year. All profits from the exhibitions go to a local primary school. Over the past six years, more than $22,000 have been donated. MRAG is an outstanding venue, with several different exhibitions on offer at all times and a great cafe and gift shop.
The Society invites all Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine readers to visit the special anniversary exhibition.
