New all-inclusive wine, dine and horseback riding tours gallop into the Hunter Valley
Murchessons Horseback Wine & Dine Tours Hunter Valley has teamed up with two boutique wineries to become the region’s first tour operator to combine horseback riding with the traditional cellar door experience.
The unique tour experience is the brainchild of business partners and Hunter Valley locals Kim Murdock and Steve Hutchesson as a way to help fund their passion project – the recovery and rehabilitation of rescue horses. Together, the duo brings together over 30 years of wine industry knowledge and experience, a passion for the region, and a special love of horses to offer guests the ultimate Hunter Valley experience.
“There is no better way to experience everything the Hunter has to offer than on horseback. I’ve spent my entire life around horses and believe they are the most amazing, astute animals,” Ms Murdock said.
“Our horses are extra special because they’re being given a second chance at life. We use natural horsemanship to rehabilitate and train our animals, and we pair you with the horse that’s just right for you.
“We’ve also lived and worked among the vines of the Hunter for a big part of our lives, so we have a lot of local and wine industry knowledge to share along the way.
“For a twist on the standard cellar door, I can say, without hesitation, it will be one of the best things you will ever experience.”
Murchessons Horseback Wine & Dine Tours offer a range of full-day and half-day tours.
Their hallmark Equine Wine & Dine Tour will have you saddled up for a full-day adventure that includes VIP tastings at Wynwood Cellar Door and Hanging Tree Vineyard, a visit to the Wynwood Cellar Wine Museum, and a gourmet lunch at voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley.
There’s also The Brunch Ride and The Afternoon Trek, half-day tours that run for about three hours and include a visit to either Wynwood Cellar Door or Hanging Tree Vineyard for a sample of some of the Hunter’s best drops. The Afternoon Trek finishes with an unforgettable ride to Brokenback Mountain Ranges at sunset.
All riders are welcome, from the novice to the experienced. Murchessons also has rescue pony rides for the little ones.
