Ultimate winery

The Hunter Valley is renowned as one of Australia’s ultimate wine destinations, but now one of its iconic vineyards has officially been included in a list of Ultimate Winery Experiences. Following the opening of its spectacular $8 million cellar door complex in December 2018, Brokenwood Wines has been added to the carefully curated selection of wineries across Australia that offer experiences that go beyond the cellar door.

Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia is a consortium of 22 premium, awardwinning wineries offering unique wine experiences including barrel, private and structured tastings, food-wine matching, wine education and gastronomy in spectacular locations within renowned wine regions. Brokenwood joins Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard as the only two Hunter Valley destinations on the list, with other wine experiences spread across the country in a variety of iconic wine locations including the Barossa Valley in South Australia and Western Australia’s Margaret River region.

Brokenwood was established in 1970 by self-professed hobby winemakers Tony Albert, John Beeston and James Halliday, and is now one of Australia’s most reputable premium wine labels. Known for its highly acclaimed Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, the revamped winery has a stunning new cellar door, a private tasting and dining room, and wine museum that overlooks the working barrel hall and picturesque vineyards.

It was recently named the Cellar Door of the Year at the 2019 Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Awards. Two immersive Ultimate Winery Experiences will be available at the vineyard – The Brokenwood Journey and VIP Soil to Cellar – providing guests with exclusive behind the scene access to the winery.
