Empowering Young People

Police Citizens Youth Clubs NSW (PCYC) Newcastle has been part of the local community since 1938 and are offering a broad range of activities for young people to take part in.

With over 1,000 young members there is always something fun on the agenda: from gymnastics, fencing, drama, boxing, art, swimming, and table tennis to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Aikido or playing in the PCYC brass band.

None of this would be possible without the volunteers who generously donate their time to run the various programs. There is Teena Wallace, musical director of the brass band who has given years of service in support of the band and taken them to many State contests. Or Henry Sabella, who runs the table tennis sessions. He is at the Club nearly every day even when table tennis is not on, repairing and doing odd jobs around the Club. Paul Cupitt and Neil Bensley are the boxing coaches, mentoring future world champions with great skill and boxing know-how. For fencing, there is a whole team of volunteers who have built a massive group of talented young people.

The Club Committee, lead by Ruth Mitchell, are actively involved and continue to support the Club year after year.
