Young People’s Theatre Newcastle

Young People’s Theatre (YPT) Newcastle Inc has been providing high quality theatre ‘for young people by young people’ in Newcastle for more than 70 years. Under Riley McLean and Leilani Boughton, who attended YPT as students themselves, progressed to tutors and are now leading the company artistically, the company is going from strength to strength. Together with Chelsea Willis, they are presenting an exciting 2020 season for audience members of all ages.

Their 2020 season includes the Australian classic, Picnic at Hanging Rock, presented in February; the much loved productions Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR and The Wizard of Oz to be presented in April/May and July/ August respectively. The Shakespearian tale, A Midsummer Nights Dream, adapted for a young audience, will hit the stage in September/October. Followed by A Year with Frog and Toad KIDs, the perfect introduction to theatre, presented by the youngest students in November and finally the timeless story, Children of Eden JR, presented by the advanced students as the final production for the year.

YPT offers affordable theatrical experiences for audiences to enjoy the magic of live performance.
