New national art prize

A new $25,000 national art prize is set to nurture art and culture while adding works by leading Australian artists to Lake Macquarie’s Cultural Collection. Launched in August, it will be a biannual competition for artists aged 18 and over. This year’s theme for the acquisitive prize is “Where There Is Water.”

Museum of Art and Culture Director Debbie Abraham said judges would be looking for works that reflected that theme, either directly or in more conceptual ways. Closing date for entries is 23 October 2020. Go to mac. lakemac.com.au/lakeartprize for more information.
