The Marching Koalas
The Marching Koalas were formed in 1982 after a visit from the Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band from the USA and are based in Newcastle, NSW Australia. The band performs regularly at many exciting functions – some highlights include the 4th July party at Google, Australia’s Got Talent Opening Night, Christmas Parades, Luna Park Sydney and numerous TV commercials.
Travel experiences are an important part of the band’s activities and they have toured overseas to perform in spectacular musical events, such as the SuperBowl, the Calgary Stampede in Canada, the Rose Parade, Pasadena USA and every Disneyland in the world! Band members enjoy providing a unique musical performance while developing their skills as musicians and enjoying positive lifestyle activities.
Every Tuesday night, the Marching Koalas get together via Zoom as they are unable to rehearse in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time together is important so that they can stay in contact with each other on a regular basis, support each other’s mental wellbeing, practice their current music and learn new music ready for their return to face-to-face rehearsals – socially distanced of course.
