Newcastle: Lock’s Paddock
Newcastle East End newcomer Lock’s Paddock has already made a big impression. The Italian and Spanish inspired eatery is big on both theatrics and flavours with their signature pasta dishes of Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara mixed in front of diners inside a giant cheese wheel. There is a special level of mouthwatering anticipation as you watch your pasta tossed fresh then served to you from the cheese wheel.
Rebecca and Nick Sullivan moved up from Sydney where they co-owned the popular Chester White Cured Diner in Potts Point, and are now featuring some of the best dishes from Chester White’s menu at their new venue. Try the delectable hand-rolled ricotta and parmesan gnocchi served with mixed mushroom ragu or speck, peas and lemon. But there is more to Lock’s Paddock than great pasta: cured meat plates and empanadas are also on offer as well as a beautifully curated winelist with bottles from Spain, France and Italy.
Open Tuesday – Friday from 5pm, Saturday from 12pm
