Coast Hands
The struggle many people face to make ends meet, pay the bills, keep a roof over their head and food on the table, is not getting any easier. Add to this a pandemic, and subsequent lockdowns and for some families it has become almost impossible. Two years ago, Coast Hands, a local grassroots charity, identified a need, not just for food and hampers to assist those doing it tough, but a desperate need for healthy, nutritious meals.
Coast Hands approached multiple local restaurants, cafés and commercial kitchens as well as local butchers, green grocers and other organisations, and created a hub of locally owned and run businesses, that have supplied over 7000 meals in the space of 18 months.
These meals are not only healthy, nutritious and packed with vegetables, they are also absolutely free. This is one of the most important aspects of what Coast Hands does.
Food, especially healthy food, is a basic human right. Coast Hands has created an extremely strong community that looks after everyone in it and ensures the most vulnerable are not left behind.
None of this would be possible without the kindness, compassion and support of the people of the Central Coast. For further information go to facebook.com/CoastHands
