Cessnock – The Italian Cottage
This unassuming, slightly worn weatherboard cottage in Cessnock is the ultimate reminder to never judge a book by its cover. Step inside and the cosy décor and welcoming staff will instantly transport you to the heart of Italy. From the tasty antipasto platter and impossibly delicious pasta, to perfectly thin, flavourful pizza and classic Italian desserts, this is authentic Italian food, made from scratch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Try the pappardelle with slow cooked lamb shoulder in white wine and a hint of tomato and saffron or the char-grilled scotch-fillet steak with a trio of mushrooms and red capsicums. We also loved the duck ravioli with caramelised onions in a light napolitana sauce. The portions are generous, but try to leave room for some house-made tiramisu, affogato or cannoli.
Open Tuesday – Thursday 5.30pm – 9pm and Friday – Sunday 11.30am – 2.30pm and 5.30pm to 9pm
