Central Coast: Helping the neighbourhood

BVNC is a not-for-profit organisation overseeing both the Berkeley Vale and Bateau Bay Neighbourhood Centres on the Central Coast. Both centres are welcoming and accessible for all members of the community.

At BVNC there is a strong focus on providing meaningful activities for all ages, as well as offering food assistance and emergency relief. The Centre is a referral service and partners with many other local not-for-profit organisations to offer all kinds of assistance, including home-made frozen meals, lawn mowing, pantry staples and toiletries, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Staff and volunteers run the Breakfast To Go program each Tuesday morning at the local skate park, providing local high school students with healthy breakfast options including juice boxes, water bottles, muesli bars and fresh fruit.

Building connections with local teens allows the Centre to put together activities and programs that teens are excited about such as the STEM programs (lego and robotics), cooking activities and Ninja warrior courses.

During lockdown the Centre adapted activities and emergency relief so that local families could be supported with engaging activities and food relief. Staff and volunteers made up cooking and craft activity packs for families to pick up via contactless collection.
