East Maitland and Stockton – Harry’s House
The Harry Meyn Foundation has clocked up over 10 years since opening the first Harry’s House Family Retreat at Stockton in 2011. The family retreats are available at no cost to families that have a child living with cancer and families that have lost a child to cancer.
The Family Retreat is a three-bedroom, fully self-contained house with a well-equipped kitchen, laundry, and outdoor barbecue area. It accommodates one family at a time.
In 2014 a second, mobile, retreat was launched via a six-berth motorhome, fully equipped with all the essentials needed for a family road trip. The retreats allow families to reconnect as a family unit during a very difficult time in their lives, where they can recharge for the challenges ahead.
Since 2011 the retreats have supported upwards of 500 families. The Harry Meyn Foundation was established by Samantha and David Meyn of East Maitland as a legacy to their young son, Harry who passed away after a short battle with brain cancer at the age of seven.
