Newcastle: 100 years of Country Women’s Association

To commemorate their 100 year anniversary, the Newcastle Evening Branch of the Country Women’s Association of New South Wales (CWA) held a celebratory high tea at Stanley Park historic house. Guests included members, family and friends and key community leaders including Cr Dr Elizabeth Adamczyk. The largest women’s organisation in Australia, CWA aims to improve conditions for country women and children.

“The CWA brings together women who want to drive change and support communities. The centenary high tea allowed us to reflect on all the achievements of the past 100 years while offering an opportunity to envision the next 100 years,” says President of the Newcastle Evening Branch CWA, Jessica Ingram.

CWA’s current projects revolve around access to medical and education services in rural and remote areas. Its committees span cooking and handicrafts, and advocacy for social, agricultural and environmental issues.
