Newcastle: World class live music

Newcastle Improvised Music Association, fondly known as NIMA, is a not-for-profit association solely run by volunteers. Its aim is to support local, national and international contemporary jazz and music artists by providing a venue where they can showcase their skills and repertoire.

NIMA holds events every Tuesday night at “The Underground”, a newly refurbished, atmospheric venue which is part of the Grand Hotel, on 32 Church Street, Newcastle. Events are world class and attract a wide age range of audience participation featuring artists who clearly welcome the opportunity to be part of a listening room environment.
NIMA has gained an international reputation amongst musicians and is sought-after as a place to perform.

It is important to note that 80 percent of ticket money goes to the performing musicians on the night. NIMA looks forward to seeing you there.
