Emotions aplenty: Karin Schaupp & Flinders Quartet
22 February – The Flinders Quartet is coming to Newcastle’s City Hall this February. Renowned for unpretentious brilliance with two decades of experience in old music and new, their concerts spark emotions that run the gamut from loss, longing and love, to a bit of foot-stomping fandango flamboyance. Classical guitar is a beautiful but famously difficult instrument to master and most players will sit very still in utmost concentration. Soloist Karin Schaupp is the exception to the rule as she welcomes the audience into her emotional world with incredible warmth and expressiveness.
This concert also features a world premiere from composer and former Musica Viva Artistic Director Carl Vine, a piece commissioned in loving memory of a young Novocastrian, the late Jennifer Bates.
