Time to shine: Hunter wine show stars

Up against the best around Australia, Hunter Valley wines have had some terrific results at a number of wine shows across the country, yet again impressively confirming the quality of Hunter Valley wines both on a local and world stage.

Tyrrell’s showed off the quality of their 2013 Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon, winning awards at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards. The wine has now accumulated an incredible two Wine of Provenance Awards, 17 Trophies, four Top Gold and 24 Gold Medals, including the categories of Best Semillon and Best Mature White at the 2022 Sydney Royal Wine Show.

That event also saw McGuigan Wines winning Best Mature Red for their elegant 2017 McGuigan Personal Reserve Vanessa Vale Shiraz.

At the 2022 NSW Small Winemakers Show four Hunter winemakers took home two trophies each, including De Iuliis Wines (Most Successful Exhibitor and Best Young Semillon), Thomas Wines (Best Red Wine of Show and Best Young Shiraz for their 2021 Elenay Shiraz), Mercer Wines (Most Successful New Exhibitor and Best Dry Red Table Wine) and Hungerford Hill (Best Dry Red Table Wine – Blends for their 2021 Tempranillo Graziano and Best Sparkling wine for the 2010 Late Disgorged Dalliance). Winmark Wines were awarded the trophy for Best Young Chardonnay for their 2021 Single Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay.

Congratulations to all the winners!
