Stylish newcomer: Bonvilla Estate open their doors
The 360-degree, jaw-dropping views at newly opened Bonvilla Estate on Oakey Creek Road are a sight to behold. Newcastle based business owners Jane McIntosh and Allan McKeown bought the 100-acre property in 2019 and immediately got busy with a thorough renovation project.
Bonvilla Estate wines are all produced from their 40-acre vineyard with Hunter Valley signature varieties of Semillon and Shiraz, plus Chardonnay, Verdelho, Rosé and Moscato.
Your $10 tasting experience includes their range of wines, some nibbles and an insightful visit to the vines. There are eight wines in the Estate and two in the Bastille Reserve range. Tasting the current and an aged Semillon side by side is enlightening. There’s a fruity, summer-perfect Verdelho and a moreish rosé, bursting with flavours of watermelon, strawberries and cream. Continue with a fresh and juicy, nouveau, early drinking Shiraz, and their flagship Bastille Shiraz with its complex dark fruits. Finish with a super refreshing Moscato Frizzante.
A comfortable and tastefully decorated five-bedroom villa next to the cellar door offers accommodation suitable for families and groups. Picnic baskets are coming soon to allow you to relax outside, while enjoying the wine, the food and the panoramic views.
Bonvilla Estate is open Thursday – Monday, 10am – 5pm. Bonvillaestate.com.au
