A new level of luxe
With a clear vision for his first building project, high above Nelson Bay, homeowner Matt
set an entirely new benchmark in luxury for the Hunter region and beyond.
With amazing vistas and the vibe of a luxury retreat, this magnificent holiday home in the hilltops above Nelson Bay is “a dream come true” for owner Matt and his family. “This is the first house I’ve built, but I have always had a passion for creating spectacular homes,” shares Matt, who “wanted to create a family vacation spot where we could all come together and enjoy some time away.”
As someone who works in the high-end home building industry in Sydney, Matt says he knew the location offered the perfect opportunity to bring his vision to life: a purpose-built holiday home that offered seclusion, ample space for relaxation and entertainment, and a private pool.
The design is both stunning and practical and aims to optimize space and functionality. Spread over three spectacular levels, the home has seven bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two powder rooms, a media room with the latest in home entertainment, a pool and multiple indoor and outdoor living areas.
Once inside, every step leads to new discoveries, as unexpected angles and perspectives reveal themselves in a stunning mix of soft curves and pared back, straight lines. “We wanted to make each angle of the house aesthetically pleasing on its own, using features such as corner windows and curved walls,” Matt explains.
“This was central to our vision and it was brought to life through the exceptional attention to detail of our builder, Kain Bliss (Greenbuild Constructions). Between Kain’s incredible eye for design and my industry knowledge we were able to brainstorm ideas that not only looked stunning but also worked practically and architecturally and the home really is a testament to this collaborative effort.”
To create cohesion and to emphasise the natural beauty of the jaw-dropping views, Matt chose a muted colour palette. A variety of timbers add warmth and create a refined contrast to the natural sandstone and polished concrete surfaces.
Personalized, custom photographs taken around the local area create a sense of place and location, making the home quintessentially Nelson Bay.
