Bimbadgen branching out – New Alter Wines range

Since Emma’s Cottage in Lovedale was purchased by Bimbadgen back in 2021, the team have been busy revitalising the space and working on a bespoke wine brand for the cellar door. Newly launched Alter Wines – as in “alter ego” – is the sibling brand to the Bimbadgen wine range, both made by group winemaker Richard Done.

Freshly renovated, the cellar door is light and airy, with a selection of modern homewares on offer in the gift shop. Enjoy your tasting at the bar, at one of the tables or outside while taking in the view of the lush gardens.

The Sparkling Blanc is fun, fresh, citrusy and easy drinking. The premium Blanc de Blanc is an elegant well-balanced wine with creaminess, texture and complexity. The classic Hunter Semillon is true to its varietal style, whilst the Chardonnay has stone fruits, a touch of vanilla and a complex savoury finish.

Next up is a super refreshing rosé with an appealing salmon blush, a blend of the seven grape varieties grown on the estate. The Shiraz Pinot and Shiraz are both medium bodied wines, characteristic of the Hunter Valley, completing an intimate tasting of modern wines with a broad appeal.

Along with the $10 wine tasting, there is a grazing menu with olives, truffled popcorn with smoked salt, and cheese and charcuterie boards.

With plans to add a function space, there are currently five well-appointed accommodation options on-site, perfect for those seeking an idyllic getaway.
