Ettalong Beach – Safran
Chef Suleyman (Sulo) Kirbancioglu and his wife Natalie offer authentic, Turkish cuisine in a contemporary, fine-dining interpretation at their beachside location on the Central Coast. The à la carte menu features meze classics like vine leaves stuffed with rice, pimento and sour cherries or the borek house pastry with air dried cured beef, turlu vegetables, smoked cheese and walnut muhammara.
Follow with traditional, hand-cut pasta, with leek dolma filled with minced goat and spiced rice or opt for the market fish with vine leaf and fava puree on a salad of asparagus, preserved lemon, pepitas and koruk (a pickled grape from the Ottoman Palace kitchens). The duck fat potatoes as a side are a must, unbelievably crispy and quite addictive.
Or bring some friends and enjoy the full Safran degustation experience that is available with paired wines and ends with Turkish sweet or savoury dessert treats.
Open for lunch Friday and Saturday from 12pm and for dinner Wednesday – Saturday from 5.30pm.
