Grown on red soils – Best of Hilltops

Hungerford Hill’s General Manager and Senior Winemaker Bryan Currie has long been familiar with the particular climate conditions of the Hilltops region of New South Wales, an area where cool winters are balanced by just enough heat and sunshine in the warmer months to make for excellent ripening conditions in the vineyards. He is also a champion of alternative grape varietals, being amongst the first to plant Portuguese grapes like Touriga or Tempranillo.

The judges of the Canberra & Region Wine Show have just honoured his skills by awarding Hungerford Hill Hilltops Tempranillo 2022 both the inaugural Best Hilltops Wine Trophy and the perpetual Peter Robinson Trophy for the 2022 Hilltops Wine of the Year.

A medium-bodied red, it features the intense black cherry fruit and lush, savoury palate characteristic of the variety. Congrats Bryan!
