Running of the sheep – Festival of the Fleeces

9 – 11 June – Make your way to Merriwa this June long weekend to join in on the Festival of the Fleeces, an annual event honouring the town’s great wool tradition and life on the land. From humble beginnings 30 years ago, the festival now attracts thousands of visitors each year with its focus on community, family, and the rich agricultural history of the region.

The main street will come to life with market stalls, entertainment, exhibits and more. Kicking off on Friday with opening night celebrations, the festival runs right through until Sunday morning with the Bush Poet’s Breakfast.

Don’t miss the highlight of the event which is the grand parade, headed by the famous Running of the Sheep in their red socks!
