Rigorous tastings – Halliday honours

Every year, the Halliday Wine Companion Awards celebrate Australia’s best winemakers, viticulturists and wineries across the country’s wine regions.

The finalists had been announced following judging by members of the Halliday Tasting Team, including a rigorous series of tastings and round-table discussions.

The Hunter Valley performed strongly with numerous finalists across the categories:
Best New Winery:
Winmark Wines;
Winery of the Year: First Creek, Leogate Estate and Peppertree Wines;
Winemaker of the Year: Jim Chatto;
Viticulturist of the Year: Liz Riley;
Best Value Winery: Briar Ridge and Carillion Wines;
Dark Horse Winery: Mount Eyre Vineyards.


Congratulations to all the finalists and especially to Pepper Tree Wines for taking out top honours for Semillon of the Year for their Museum Release Limited Release Tallawanta Single Vineyard Semillon 2013.
