Calling bonsai lovers

The Central Coast Bonsai Club is comprised of members keen to learn and explore the wonderful art of bonsai. Since its inception in 1997, the club’s prevailing theme has been to promote knowledge, enjoyment and satisfaction gained from the art of bonsai.

Club members include a diverse spectrum ranging from school age to retirees. Skill and experience levels extend from beginner to highly experienced and advanced. All levels and ages are welcome.

Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. They typically involve a guest speaker/demonstrator describing a different aspect of bonsai.

The Club’s calendar details a range of public workshops, full day sessions with top Australian bonsai artists, annual shows and bonsai classes.

Not to be missed is the Bonsai Open, which will be held on 6 and 7 April at the Mingara Recreation Club. On display will be approximately 140 bonsai trees, many from the Central Coast Club as well as entries from much further afield.

This will be the fourth Bonsai Open and with over $5000 in prizes there will be hot competition amongst Australia’s top bonsai artists to win the ‘crown’. In 2023 the standard of trees on display was exceptional. It is one of Australia’ biggest bonsai exhibitions.

There will be demonstrations across the weekend from some of the country’s finest bonsai artists and the sales area provides many bonsai related items.
