Fun, friendship and exercise
In April last year the Instep Country Line Dancing group celebrated its 30 year anniversary.
Today they hold classes in Telarah, Gillieston Heights and Weston areas. Line dancing promotes balance, coordination, fitness and provides ample opportunities to establish new friendships.
This year the group is back for another fun filled year of dancing, with day and evening classes, combined socials where other groups are invited to attend, as well as fundraising activities and demonstrations.
The Social get-togethers provide an opportunity to practice all the dances that participants have been taught in classes. It is a friendly environment where music is enjoyed by all. Fundraising is an important part of the group’s activities. For example, in November $1350 was raised for Men’s Mental Health services and at the last social for the year in 2023 they had two fund-raisers: the one for the Kurri/ Weston fire victims raised $880 and the other for cancer research raised $1,405. Fundraising will continue in 2024.
The group’s theme is fun, friendship and exercise and all ages participate, from 16-year-olds to over 80s and there are classes for beginners and intermediates.
